Luminess Air Scam! Buyers Beware
I saw an infomercial for Luminess Air Special. Of course it said $19.95 in the ad, but I later found out that that was just the first of 4 total payments. Unfortunately, I went against my better judgement and went through with the purchase as I thought I was still getting about 40% off. Fast forward 3 months and I’m looking at my credit card statement only to discover Luminess Air has been charging me AN EXTRA $40 every month for a “makeup subscription” that I NEVER wanted and would NEVER agree to. When I was purchasing the airbrush, I didn’t see anything about a makeup subscription nor would I ever agree to that. I called the company and they told me they would refund me if I sent the makeup they had sent back to them. Of course, I immediately sent it back and NEVER received a refund. I know that they received it because I tracked the package, but when I called they kept telling me they never received it and their was nothing they could do. I feel completely scammed and will NEVER order from an infomercial again. I ended up paying about $120 for makeup I returned back to them and for a subscription I never agreed too. On top of that the makeup they sent was suppose to be the same shade but one was completely orange and the cap was broken so makeup was all over the bottle. I am contacting the better business bureau and attorney general. This is unacceptable and consumers need to hold scammers like this accountable. This is my first time ever writing a bad review about any company, but I just feel very strongly that consumers need to be warned against purchasing from companies like this. I’m also wondering if anyone else has had to deal with this from them.

Please be aware that it is a *** starting from the product and with 'customer satisfaction guarantee' promise. If you do not like it. You will need return it on our own expense with no return of money you spent and they have right if they find something wrong to send it back to you on your expense again. You cannot use it by yourself, since in order to apply you need to see what you are doing and you can not keep your eyes open if you want to apply the makeup near the eyes. When you call the customer service they will do whatever trying not to give you return RA number. I cannot believe that this product is advertised on the tv

I tried their 30-day trial for 1999. I completely checked the website and made sure that there was no hidden fees because I knew this was a subscription service. There was no mention of a stocking fee they did ask if you wanted priority shipping you could have that but you had to ask for it. I got the system and it was horrible. A makeup artist friend who is familiar with it tried it on me twice and it made me look at least 10 years older! So I called to return it. You have to have a return number or they won't accept it. I asked just to make sure that I would get my 1995 back they said no and it was 3799 because I got priority shipping and handling fee. I told them that was not right I only agreed to 1999 and I never asked for a priority shipping and there was no mention on their website of handling. He told me that you have to ask not to have priority shipping. This was not what was put on their website. Also it was very high pressure to keep the system. I told him no less than three times I absolutely did not want a different kind of makeup, I did not want a different kind of airbrush system I did not want anything else I wanted to return it and I wanted my money back because it stated a money back guarantee. This was completely not true. They say on their invoice that it is a 30 day satisfaction guarantee trial offer it says nothing about not getting your money back all it says is that you will have to have a return number and that's it nothing about not getting your money back. Nothing about priority shipping when you did not ask for it. Nothing about a restocking fee or handling fees or processing fees. No wonder no one likes this. I can get better coverage and better makeup going to Walmart! And better customer service too!

I decided to try it. On the TV and on the website it said 1995 money back guarantee free shipping. That was all. I double check to make sure because I knew it was a subscription service and I figured they would try to hide something else. I got it. Tried it. Had a makeup artist who's familiar with the system try it and it made me look 10 years older! It was Kiki it was disgusting. So I called to send it back. Very high pressure to let them send me more makeup and to continue on the 30-day trial. I said absolutely not I want to send it back. I had to repeat this at least three times. They said okay send it back here's your return number. I asked how much I would be refunded they said oh this 3799 you were charged is nonrefundable. I told them wait a minute, it should be 1999 and that's it and it's a money back guarantee. He told me no, unless you do not ask for priority shipping they charge you for a priority shipping and a processing fee and according to them the 1995 trial is non-refundable. Supposably it's your 30-day test fee. Needless to say 43799 I got completely screwed. On the TV and on the website it says that the makeup they send is a free gift for you to keep regardless of what happens. But on the phone he told me everything had to be sent back including the free gifts. They are complete Liars. They do not follow the laws of the individual states, my state says that a money back guarantee unless otherwise specified means a trial and shipping and handling charges. Nowhere on their website does it say anything about not refunding this. Therefore the 3799 should be completely refunded. But of course they're not going to give me my money back. Lesson learned.

I have purchased multiple items and when I needed to return them - then they started to be very difficult - 5-6 weeks later, they still have not reimbursed a $69 purchase despite the fact that I did follow procedures to a "t" and used certified mail etc...to be fair, they reimbursed a small $22 item ( returned with exact same procedures).... I would not touch them with a 100 foot pole!

I know there are different ones. However, the infomercial which prompted my order DID NOT state anything whatsoever about future payments. It DID say it came with trial size makeup which you could choose to keep coming with the club purchase. It never once said a thing about a payment plan for the machine. It was very deceptive in making it seem as though the word trial was added due ONLY to the makeup. I never opened my box before they started taking more money out which was between around $40 - $50 weekly. Oh and btw, I declined when prompted to join the club. Though, they disregarded my selection and put me in the club anyway and charged my card for it. GOOGLE LUMINOUS AIR AND YOU'LL SEE THIS DEVICE AT WALLY WORLD FOR $50!!! I OFTEN buy things online for cheaper than a brick & mortar store. So I thought nothing of paying about $10 less... Or so I thought I was paying! There are literally thousands of complaints about this companies fraud. Everyone CAN'T be wrong! I write contracts on a regular basis. I have common sense and I am not an idiot! The ONLY reason they got me is because I didn't read reviews before purchasing. My bank has reimbursed me and is investigating the charges. No matter how many times I called, they ALWAYS said there's no documentation on the computer that you've called... REALLY!?!? They've gotten comfortable in their little scam! Don't let them get away with it ladies! Fight back, file a claim with your financial institute. They know what they're doing is wrong. Otherwise, they wouldn't be lying! Don't be a fraud company! You'd likely still sell plenty and have happy customers, but do it the right way and you'll have those customers for life.
Firstly, my due date for my$44.95 payment is on July 10th. It's July 6th. Emailed since I couldn't get a rep when I saw this, and also want to cancel the "makeup club" membership that allowed for no option to opt out of. I just WANT THE MACHINE and use Art of Air...

They pulled the same bull with me and when I contacted PayPal Prepaid, PayPal actually refunded the charges over and beyond the initial $19.99, shut my card off immediately and sent me a new one right away. In the future I'll only use one of those throw-away cards (like Vanilla Visa) that you load for a certain amount just one time.
That way I can avoid all this stress.
It just so happened that it was the end of the month when Luminess charged my account $44 without my knowledge or consent and really left me in a bind and another reputable company that was on auto-pay didn't get paid so I missed my monthly shipment of cleaning supplies. (grove dot com) I hope everyone who had trouble with this company will file complaints with the Better Business Bureau.

I purchased the Luminess Air system, and repeatedly told the gentlemen whith whom I placed my order that I did not want continuous shipments. He assured me that I was not enrolled in that program, but, he enrolled me anyway and I received makeup for the next three months. I called and cancelled, then received another shipment the next month. I called both my credit card company and Luminess to (once again) have the automatic shipments stopped. This is June, and I have not received a shipment from Luminess since February, but behold....they charged my card AGAIN this morning, and when I called they told me I was enrolled for automatic shipments every 4 months (news to me!). So, though my charge was still pending, I was told by Luminess that the shipment could not be stopped because it was already at the post office and that I could not return it because "Luminess doesn't have return labels." Again I called my credit card company and my card representative told me to call them again and get a cancellation number. I did, called the credit card company again, and gave them that number. I have requested a block on my account to prevent this company from charging me again.

After receiving the product on a 30 day trial. I realized not only what the total price would be but also the product was cheaply made. I followed their protocol and returned at my cost. They are now billing me for something I returned within a week of receiving. Will not answer my e-mail. No help calling. I will keep trying to get this issue resolved. My advice stay away from this company.

I had not even used the machine nor any of the make up and called to return. I was told I was charged 20 more than my invoice says, unable to tell me why. Would not refund as ad states, I would need to pay return postage AND Insurance. DO NOT ORDER THIS SCAM!!

I ordered makeup from luminess. When I received it I read that it was some sort of subscription. I called to cancel any subsequent shipments. I then noticed several charges on my credit card account after I cancelled. This was a very deceptive if not fraudulent business practice. I contacted my credit card company to cancel any further charges from them. Last week I received an order from them which I have not opened.

I hate the product and after calling to return.... they want you to return everything and by a certain time............ I called to let them know I want to return.... And let this company know you will be contacting the attorney generals office. Since I got scammed by this company I have read so many others have been scammed. We are just a few in a long line of people that got scammed and to many that are still getting scammed.
I got my momey back less the shipping, thanks to the BBB. Good luck
